Hi, I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how much I'm enjoying your site. The information and articles are wonderful, and I'm learning so much from them. Your fish are beautiful! I admire all that you're doing here. - Kristi Sawin
Honestly your website is very outstanding website for betta lovers, two thumb up for you Vic. - Joepiter (INBS)
I am a former siamese fighter hobbyist, back in my early to late teens, bettas are the only fish that i was ever interested in rearing, but with studies and work i stopped. Now seeing your site i bought aquariums, air pumps and chemicals, i have always said to myself i would get back into bettas but kept putting it off, your site has made me decide to do it now..thanks. KEEP IT UP. - Daryl
Just a quick email to say i think your site is the best and most helpfull, keep up the good work! - Martin Day
I am blown away with the wealth of knowledge and Great looking fish, you offer on your web pages. Unbelieavable. Many, many thanks again. - Richard Parr
Bettysplendens.com is hands-down the best betta website on the net. The information is clear and helpful, and 99% of the answers to my questions can be found right here. Thumbs up!! - Wayne
I found this site from Jim Sonnier's website. I come here2 or 3 times a day to see what's new. There's no competition this site is the best for a betta lover. - Natalee
Outstanding site, and outstanding seller as well. There's just no reason to go anywhere else. - Merle
I have been present (even if I could hear) at every BettaCast so far. I think they're great and hope they will continue. - Shelley Dilas
I really like the podcasts, whether you pre-record or go live, I will be listening - I have found helpful info everytime. - Kristi
I really really enjoyed listening to the podcast. It made me feel like I could start to know some of you as real people. I even was chuckling to myself and that takes alot. I know it's new and there are probably bugs but please keep it going. There are so many things that others can learn and you might not even realize how many people do listen and even read the articles in this forum. Thanks alot. - Debbie
I adore the podcasts, even when they get off topic. I learn, I laugh, and I feel like I get to share my fish obsession for just a little while. I look forward to the podcasts... and check alll the time to see if the new on has been posted, or if new info is up for the next one... LOL - Charissa
Podcast is a blast. Of course my favorite parts are the tangents. Definately TONS of info... but it is not dry humor. Goofy, fun.... ya wanna keep listening.... if only to wait with baited breath (grindals... shaken not stirred) for Koitis to break out into song.... or possibly for Joe to suddenly do a Roy Orbison impersonation.... - Anne Brunette
I really love the podcast idea and hearing the voices of the very people we communicate in this forum. I also want to encourage V to keep doing it because is a good form of knowledge and a fun way to learn from others. - Angel Inglesias
Your site is the best betta site without a doubt. Your fish are quite beautiful, too. I love the greens you are coming up with. - Tim Ferriole
First of all let me say that I'm fascinated by your dedication to bettas, by the passion you inspire and the overwhelming generosity you demonstrate by sharing your knowledge and talent. I only recently started taking this interest more seriously but through your site discovered the science, creativity and art it involves. As and architect and artist I profoundly believe that it is a form of art where movement, emotion, form, proportion and beauty are essential. - Victor Correia
In the years that I have read story after story about how people have "gotten into the hobby" or wanted to "save the species", I was elated to realize that i felt genuiness and emotion to the words in your Bio...despite my science degree, as far as personality, I have almost nothing in common with my former science "peers" as I have left my field...and it was nice to read words that seem to have come from a person rather than a computer(irony) that looks like a human being. - Sonny
Girl... you really never imagine how i like your site... your sitemakes part of my routine... every day i "need" to ready some part ofthe articles... is really well done and interesting too... - Rodrigo Clemente
Hi. I recently came across your podcast and am enjoying the antics and the information. Thanks for the help and the casts. - Stuart Lightfoot
Hi, I just wanted to say your site answered a lot of my betta related questions. I have two of my own and I'm going to spawn then again! thank you! - KawKaw
Dont know if you remember me...I bought a Poison GasHalf-Moon from you a couple months ago. We were having problems becausethe fish didnt arrive and we didnt know if it would ever make it. Thoughtyou might like to know that after a little over 4 weeks it did finallyarrive...and it survived. We were all pretty amazed. No food or air fora month, and it was still alive when we opened the box. I guess the USpostal service lost it or something. The fish has fullyrecovered and is very active. Aside from some minor ammonia burns, itdid not suffer very much damage in transit. It was lethargic at first, but within a few days it was eating normally and was very active. Needless to say, I'm impressed. Thats a very hardy little fish. There is no way a store bought beta would have survived that journey. So I will probably be buying another one for my sister forChristmas...though I will be overnighting it this time. - Jeff

. HEJSAN FROM SWEDEN EVERYONE! Everything in Sweden is going well, although I'm still busy learning the language and coping with a newborn, so it will be a bit before I'm as active as I'd like with the fish. This is a Facebook update! I have created a new BettySplendens Facebook page that will be used exclusively for betta-related networking. On the 16th of August I will be going through and deleting most of the people on my personal Facebook page who are not actual friends or family (many of you have become friends through the course of the hobby, and of course will not be deleted). If for any reason you wish to remain on my personal page, please let me know by emailing bettysplendens@yahoo.com, or FB email. Otherwise, go to the new BettySplendens Facebook page and click the 'like' button for more betta-related news and updates :).
Tack så mycket (that's ''Thank you very much'' in Svenskie-land ;))! ~Victoria~
Slight change of plans! I have decided that, instead of reinventing the wheel, I'm going to create a personal FB page and use the old one purely for betta stuff. So if you're on the original page (now called BettySplendens Bettas), please stay put! :P
For all the betta inquiries: Just a reminder, I am not selling bettas in the US at the present time. I may begin to supply a few select bettas throughout Europe sometime in late Spring 2011. Cheers!
Spotting the Orange Dalmatian Ever since it first started being widely seen in pet stores around late 2004, the spotted orange betta has taken the hobby by storm. But what exactly is it?
Finnage Variations Bettas today come in a wide variety of forms, and new ones are being created all the time. Here are the most popular.
Choosing a Betta There are basically three ways of purchasing bettas. Buying them from a pet store, buying them from a breeder, or buying them online. I'll run through some important things to consider in each of those options.
The True Story of the Halfmoon The true story of the creation of the Halfmoon betta.
Defining a Good Crowntail For the purpose of showing in the CT class, Crowntails are defined as bettas exhibiting at least 33% reduction in webbing versus ray length in each of the three primary fins (caudal, anal and dorsal). This requirement must be demonstrated in all three primary fins but does not need to be exhibited between all rays to meet the minimum requirement to be classified as a Crowntail betta.
